Please, do not rely on nearly all the books written on Yoruba culture, tradition and religion. Some of them are written with biased minds, by Europeans and their surrogates among us, their aims were to proof that Christianity was better than our noble religion, to make us to swallow western culture, to make the exploitation of our enviroment easier for the west.The day people like Prof. Wande Abimbola who are in the Yoruba religion and also reputable scholars of Yoruba tradition started to write, that was when things started to take better shape. The European are the ones who first wrote that human beings started from Mesopotamia, they said Yoruba came from Mecca then Egypt, they were surprised with sophistication of Yoruba tradition, to them, we were from Egypt then. Recently they said the world stated in Africa, East Africa to be precise. One Ethnologist who is also European just announced on CNN that he discovered oldest artifacts and settlement in the world in Ile Ife, I am sure, later the Europeans will agree with Ifa that the world started in Ife.

Europeans like to approve things that only agree with their selfish interests and their greediness.

When I was receiving my education in the university to become a history and Yoruba teacher, I was taught all those rubbish that Oduduwa came from Egypt and Mecca also, I was very nervous until the head of the history department taught us the story from Ifa angle that Irunmole came to the world under the leadership of Obatala, they used hen and Iyerosun to free some land from the sea and started the first settlement in the earth. After the earth had been made comfortable for human beings, Olodumare directed Oduduwa and other human beings to start their journey to the world. Oduduwa means "the one and only", we can treat that later. They landed in Ife, the world started. My history professor taught us that other stories of the Yorubas are purely eurocentric, that we should believe our own because our own is logical. I was relaxed and happy. I believe him. How Europeans and other groups of people left Ife according to Ifa would be treated next time.

As a babalawo and high priest of Yoruba religion, I only stay and believe what Ifa says. No any other human theory could move me anymore, I am only for what Ifa says on all the things in this world and beyond.
