Mast Erection: GSM Operators, ISPs Support NCAA

Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has said GSM and Internet Services Providers (ISPs) have started complying with its new directive on mast erection.

NCAA Media Assistant to the Director-General, Mr. Sam Adurogboye, who disclosed this in Lagos, said some of the service providers have started submitting their application forms for aviation height clearance.

Adurogboye said forms were already being processed, adding that the approved fee for the construction of new mast is N100,000 with N50,000 as licence fee.

"Approved permit charges for the construction of new communication tower is N500,000, while N200,000 is the approved license fee," he added.

He explained that each time there was construction of new mast, the nation's airspace map would have to be altered and airlines informed for the purpose of guiding their pilots.

He, however said the approved fee for permit to contruct an international airport remains N100 million with a licence fee of N25 million.

According to him, permit for construction of local airport is still N50 million with a license fee of N20 million and airstrip, N30m with a license fee of N5 million.

Adurogboye explained that permit for construction of private Helidecks or Helipads would now cost N5 million with a license fee of N1m, stating that the introduction of the new charges was in compliance with the outcome of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
