Yoruba Art Gets Boost in Germany

Yoruba will now have opportunity to exhibit their creative talents in germany on 24th March 2002 through an art exhibition organised by the IYA DuDu Centre for Yoruba Art & Culture, Ostbevern, Germany and the Government of Ostbevern, Germany. The exhibition is billed to feature varieties of Yoruba art techniques like paper works, bronze works, batik, adire, burntworks, sculptures, carvings, etc. The profiles of the Yoruba artists to be exhibited show that they are not new to exposure. The artists are Ajibola Adegboye, Kazeem Agboola, Adeleke Arusa, Lekan Oguntunde, Adigun Olosun, Kolawole Olotu, Ige Ose and others. The titles of the works are purely from the Yoruba cultural background. They depict the totality of Yoruba life. It is an easy and shortest way to let the Germans and art lovers in germany to have insight into the Yoruba society. More than 100 authentic Yoruba art works are to be exhibited. The exhibition duration is from March 24-April 7 2002. The place of the exhibition is Government House, Ostbevern. It will be declared open by the Mayor of Ostbevern, His Excellency Jürgen Hoffstädt. |
