Dear Editor,

I really appreciated that Tony Blair gave his time to write his article concerning the problems of Africa in your latest issue, March to be precise, but he did not hit the nail at the right place. I am one of those who admire him because of his allowing his political views to have humanitarian touch. His pronouncements on Africa usually give me hope that one day, Europeans will wake up and allow fair justice to reign in their dealings with Africa and other parts of the world.

But in this particular issue of NA, Tony Blair put the blames of African problems on the doorsteps of the African leaders without apportioning blame on his own people and governments in the west. It is very clear that the issue of corruption which he laid emphasis on as the basis of African problems is caused by the Europeans, they started it, they nurtured it and they preserve it in order for them to be able to perpetuate their evil acts by exploiting and stealing Africa's natural resources.

Europeans started by introducing favoritism into the African society. A society which is known to be living on the basics necessity of life is not known to be corrupt, Africa was like this before. But Europeans came, they introduced their own lords, people that had no education both traditional and western education are put into newly created high posts in the society. The result was destabilisation which goes on till today. With this method, Europeans believe that by putting stupid and idiot person in position of power, he would not know the right from wrong, he would only be looking for what would make him relevant, only by stealing through corruption, he would not know what caring for the interests of his people is. The Europeans believe that they can do deals with him at the expense of the masses of Africa.

Good examples are educated and humane African leaders like Nkrumah of Ghana, Murtala Mohammed of Nigeria, Patrice Lumumba of Congo, etc were the becon of hopes for Africa. They were killed mercilessly by the Europeans only because they were educated and they wanted to help their people, Africans. Julius Nyerere of Tanzania was obstructed by Europeans in all his efforts to help his people. But the Europeans found it worthwhile to support uneducated leaders in the real sense of it like Mobutu of Congo(Zaire), Houphouet Boigny of Ivory Coast, Idi Amin of Uganda, Babangida and Sani Abacha of Nigeria, Dauda Jawara of Gambia, Jonas Savimbi of Angola, etc. Those who are known to be lackeys in the hands of European neocolonialism.

Europeans began their stealing in Africa in a crude way in the past centuries and in a highly sophisticated criminalised manners in the last century when America teamed-up with other Europeans. How? By setting-up the most corrupt and non-humane institutions like IMF, World Bank, WTO, GATT, etc in order for Europeans to formalise their stealing and exploitation of Africa and other parts of the world.

Tony Blair needs to know that it is fair-dealings from Europeans to Africans that will bring expected paradise to Africa. He should not blame the corrupt African leaders which they themselves created, promoted and sometimes dumped as the cause of African woes.
