Write-up sent to Egbeodara Group

Ara wa,

I just wish to say a word or two to the on-going discussion on donation of organs in our religion. According to what one of us in this group said on how (oko) penis became important according to Ifa, it was true but what I wish to add to it is that any organ to be donated should not be for monetary gains, not commercial at all. There is nothing bad for a family or kinsmen to donate their organs to eachother. Even one can give life for the sake of one's family, relative or kinsmen. Moremi did it in Ile-Ife Nigeria by sacrificing his only child and herself for the freedom of her community in the olden days according to what Ifa says that the community must do it. One great hunter in Oyo sacrificed his life in order to be able to retrieve the dead body of his friend. In both situations, all these people became heroes and heroine till today.

Donation of self or organ in Yoruba Traditional Religion without commercial interest is regarded as a noble cause and the highest present one can give. Even the Irunmole that we are following sacrificed themselves to teach the human beings on how to live good life, Olodumare directed them to serve us and they obeyed despite all the problems, difficulties and the tribulation they knew were awaiting them from the world(Aye), Ajoguns(Malavolent forces) and eniyan(human beings).

I pray that Irunmole would continue to guide us in their ways.

Yours in Irunmole,

Prince(Babalawo)Adigun Olosun,MA.PGDJ
